- One reservation is only needed for the full length of your trip.
- A minimum hire period may apply and will be advised at time of booking.
- One way fees may apply and will be advised at time of booking.
- A rental can start and finish at any Budget New Zealand location. Subject to availability.
- It is your responsibility to book all vehicle and passenger ferry tickets.
- If you do not wish to take your rental vehicle on the ferry, you must make two separate vehicle reservations

Take a dip in the ocean with fur seals, jump in a boat (or go by air) and watch life’s largest marine creatures, whales. For the land adventurers, experience all the culture that Kaikoura has to offer by meeting the locals and experiencing their art. Take the opportunity to trek some hiking trails or go 4-wheel driving.
Nelson Tasman Adventure
An alternate 2 and a half hour drive, takes you to to Nelson Tasman, to kayak its hidden bays or follow the walking trail along the coast. There’s three national parks to explore , so if the beach isn’t your style go inland to see the Nelson Lakes set amongst the mountains (you can even stay the night). For some down time and town exploration, check the local art stores, galleries and museums dotted along the town.

A 4 hour scenic drive from Wellington and half-way to Auckland, Taranaki is a haven for outdoor adventurers, food enthusiasts, art and culture and families alike.
If you're a keen hiker, we recommend to explore the Pouakai Circuit. Not for the faint hearted, this 1 day 19km hike, delivers amazing views with native forests, lava cliffs and a insta-worthy lake.
Taranaki Art Trail
Take a coastal walk via the Art Trail and give the soul something to feast on. From local theatres, museums and galleries. Plus, there are other galleries and museums to visit too in Taranaki. Don’t forget to pick up a keepsake of your adventure from one of the vintage stores or from a local artist.
